2020 Voice of Agriculture Conference
This one-and-a-half-day conference provides new ideas for county Farm Bureau P&E and/or communication volunteers who are interested in an opportunity to:

  • Meet Farm Bureau member from across the state to share ideas
  • Help teach children about food and farming through Agriculture in the Classroom programming
  • Learn new tools for connecting with consumers

Cancellations for the event must be made in writing by January 6th to avoid a no show fee. 

No show fees will be 
charged to the County Farm Bureau as follows:
     $370 Full Registration No Show Fee

     - $312 Thursday only plus hotel
     - $250 Thursday only
     - $55 Tour No Show Fee

Our conference is seated below the second busiest border crossing along the Canadian border. Meet with U.S. Customs and Border Protection staff to learn how agricultural goods are imported by vehicle, train, boat or plane at this port of entry. Tour the Blue Water Bridge customs plaza then head to the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service’s veterinary check point. Hear from the lead veterinarian at this site to learn how he is working to mitigate biohazards through animal import inspections. Make a stop at the Fort Gratiot Lighthouse, the first lighthouse in Michigan, before heading to dinner. Enjoy a warm, lakeside meal at either The Cadillac House or Marine City Fish Company. *Participants on this tour are subject to a background check by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection in order to enter their facilities. Visit Lauwers Sheep Farm, one of the largest flocks of ewes raised indoors in the state. Learn how the farm staggers lambing to provide a consistent supply of lamb year around. Then, think about your spring landscaping plans at Theisen’s Greenhouse in Memphis. This wholesale greenhouse has been supplying bedding plants, hanging baskets and annual containers to retailers in the metro Detroit area for more than 60 years. Wrap up the day following a cold glass of hard cider from tree to tank to at Blake’s Orchard and Hard Cider.
